Who we are
Conker Studio is a trading name of Joseph Conway, a sole trader based in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, United Kingdom. We are a branding, graphic design, web design and development studio.
For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018), Joseph Conway trading as Conker Studio is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

The information we collect
When you send us an enquiry through the form on our website, we collect your name, phone number, email address and anything you tell us about your project.
If you email us directly or become a client, we will also hold our correspondence with you and the information needed to deliver and invoice your project, such as your business name, address and billing details.
Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. This is used to keep the site secure and working.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and we do not build profiles of our visitors.
How and why we use your information
We only use your information for the purposes it was given to us, and we rely on the following lawful bases under the UK GDPR:
• To reply to your enquiry and discuss your project: our legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us, and taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
• To deliver work, invoice and manage our relationship with clients: performance of a contract.
• To keep financial records and meet our tax and accounting obligations: legal obligation.
• To keep our website secure and prevent misuse: our legitimate interests.
We will never sell your information, and we will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing emails unless you have clearly asked us to. You can ask us to stop at any time.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with trusted service providers who help us run the business, and only as much as they need. They act on our instructions and must keep your information secure:
• IONOS: hosts our website and its server logs.
• Google (Gmail): delivers and stores the enquiry emails sent from our website, and our email correspondence with you.
• jsDelivr: a content delivery network that supplies the code for the animations on our website. Your browser connects to it directly, so it receives your IP address. It does not set cookies.
• Gravatar (Automattic): may display author profile pictures on our news articles. Your browser connects to it directly, so it receives your IP address.
We may also share information with our accountant or professional advisers, or where we are required to by law.
International transfers
Some of our providers, such as Google, may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by the safeguards required by UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
• Enquiries that do not lead to a project: up to 12 months from our last contact, then deleted.
• Client and project records: for six years after the end of the tax year in which the work was completed, as required by HMRC.
• Our website's email delivery log: automatically deleted after 14 days.
• Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period for security purposes.
The information you submit through our website form is emailed to us; it is not stored in a database on the website.
Cookies and similar technologies
Our website does not use cookies to track or identify visitors, and we do not use any analytics or advertising cookies. That is why you will not see a cookie banner.
Our website uses a small amount of storage in your browser (called local storage) to make our enquiry pop-up work. This is strictly necessary to provide a feature you have asked to use, so under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) it does not require your consent. It contains no personal information.
If you log in to manage the website, WordPress sets login cookies. These only apply to site administrators.
If we ever introduce analytics or other non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting them.
How we keep your information secure
Our website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, access to our systems and email is protected with strong passwords and two-step verification, and we limit who can access your information.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
• ask us to delete your information;
• ask us to restrict how we use your information;
• object to us using your information where we rely on legitimate interests;
• ask us to transfer information you have given us to another organisation;
• withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

How to complain
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first and we will do our best to put it right.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
