UniBrands came to us for product packaging design for its premium vacuum storage bags, sold online mainly through Amazon in a category crowded with near-identical listings and generic boxes. Shoppers scroll past dozens of lookalike products in seconds, so the packaging had to stop the scroll - standing out as a thumbnail and still feeling worth the price when it landed on the doorstep.
We created bespoke product packaging design for the range, built around a bright, confident charcoal and yellow palette and a clear UniBrands wordmark. The colours were chosen to be eye-catching first: bold yellow cuts through the white backgrounds and muted boxes that fill an Amazon search page, so the product is the one people notice. The box puts the important things first - what's inside, the space it saves and why it beats the alternatives - so customers understand the product at a glance. Nothing on the front is there for decoration - every word and graphic has a job to do. See how we approach product branding and food and drink packaging.
Good product packaging design does a lot of selling in a very small space. We built a strong hierarchy - product name, key benefit and pack contents - with bright yellow callouts that draw the eye without cluttering the box, and imagery that shows the bags doing their job. On a crowded marketplace, the difference between a click and a scroll-past often comes down to colour and clarity, so every decision came back to one simple question: would this catch someone's eye at a glance?
To explain the product without walls of text, we designed a set of custom icons for the key features. Each one is simple enough to read at a glance and works in a single colour, so the benefits come across in a split second rather than a paragraph. Because most customers first meet the box as a small image on a product listing, every element - icons included - was designed to read clearly at thumbnail size as well as full scale. The same system stretches easily across different pack sizes and future products in the range.
UniBrands now has packaging that matches the quality of the product - recognisable in a listing, confident on the shelf and consistent across the range. It gives a growing online brand the presence of a much bigger one. The bright palette and custom icons give UniBrands a look that's easy to recognise across every pack size, with a system that's simple to extend as new products join the range. If you sell on Amazon or other marketplaces and your packaging is getting lost in the crowd, the same approach to product packaging design can work for you too.
If your product deserves packaging that sells as hard as you do, we'd love to help. Take a look at how we approach graphic design and branding, or get in touch for a chat.
