How much does a logo cost in Grimsby?

If you're starting a business or giving an old one a fresh look, one of the first questions is how much a logo should cost. The honest answer is that it depends on what you need, but for a professional logo in Grimsby you can expect to pay from £450 with me. That gets you a logo designed from scratch, two rounds of revisions and every file you need for print, web and social. Here's what goes into that price, and how to work out what's right for your business.

The price depends on how much thinking goes in.

Four things move a logo quote up or down. The first is research - a logo built on proper thinking about your business, customers and competitors costs more than one picked from a template, and it works a lot harder. The second is how many ideas you see. I show two strong, well thought out directions rather than ten rushed ones.

The third is revisions. Unlimited revisions sounds generous, but it usually means the brief was never pinned down, so two rounds keeps things focused. The last is the files you walk away with. A single JPEG isn't a logo you can use - you need versions for print, web, social and single colour, and you need to own them outright.

For £450, you get a logo that's ready to use everywhere.

My logo design package starts with a discovery questionnaire, where you tell me about your business, your customers and where you want to go. That becomes the brief everything else is measured against. From there I design two distinct concepts and talk you through the thinking behind each one, then we refine your chosen direction over two rounds of revisions.

At the end you get the full file pack - print-ready, web and social files in full colour, single colour and reversed versions. There are no hidden extras and no ongoing licence fees. Once it's paid for, the logo belongs to you.

Some businesses need more than a logo.

A logo on its own is right for most new businesses. If you're growing, hiring or moving into new markets, a fuller identity gives you a consistent look across everything you put out. My Brand Identity package is £1,250 and adds the colours, fonts and guidelines that go with your logo. For established businesses ready for a complete refresh, a Brand & Rebrand starts from £2,500. You can see what's included in each on my branding page.

A £20 logo can end up costing you twice.

You can get a logo for £20 online, and for some people that's fine to start with. The catch is what you don't get. Cheap logos are often built from stock templates, so the same mark can turn up on hundreds of other businesses. You can't trademark it, it rarely works at small sizes, and there's no thinking behind it about who your customers are.

Most of the businesses I work with have already been down that road. They end up paying twice - once for the cheap logo, then again to replace it when it holds them back. A logo goes on your van, your website, your uniforms and your invoices for years, so it's worth getting right the first time.

Here's what that looks like for local businesses.

For Edwards & Higgins, a local plasterer, the job was getting them more recognition with a logo that stands apart from the lookalike marks most trades end up with. Shire Sand & Gravel needed a bold, confident mark that works everywhere from wagon livery to a website header. And for Chloe Conway Photography, it was a clean, elegant mark that sits quietly alongside the photography. You can see more projects in my work.

How to budget for your logo.

If you're just starting out, set aside £450 for a logo and plan to grow it into a full identity later. If you already have customers and a reputation to protect, the £1,250 Brand Identity package is usually the better investment. Before you get quotes, ask exactly what files you'll receive and whether you'll own them, check how many concepts and revisions are included, and look at the designer's past work for businesses like yours.

To make that easier, I've put together a free Logo Brief Checklist. It walks you through everything a designer will ask, so you get an accurate quote first time. You can fill it in on screen or print it off, then send it over.

All my prices are laid out in my free pricing guide, so you can see exactly what you'd pay before we speak.

If you've got a business that deserves a logo it can be proud of, I'd love to hear about it. Tell me a bit about what you do and I'll come back with a clear, fixed price - no hard sell. Start a project whenever you're ready.
